Mission Statement

Our mission is to plan, develop, operate, and maintain a parks-and-recreation system that enriches the overall quality of life for our residents and visitors alike, and to preserve it for future generations.

Responsibilities

The City of Manteca Parks and Recreation Department serves thousands of individuals, including toddlers, youth, teens, and adults throughout the greater Manteca area. We strive to offer programs and services that foster health, wellness, and human development, strengthen families, and provide recreational opportunities for the purpose of positively affecting the quality of life for all involved.

The Department oversees more than 600 acres of neighborhood and community parks, maintenance districts, urban forest, the Tidewater Bikeway, skate park, swimming pool, senior center, library services, and our 18-hole golf course.

Goals

  • Provide safe, clean, and green facilities for the citizens of Manteca and all its visitors.
  • Strive to preserve, protect, maintain, and improve our parkland, landscapes, facilities, and recreational opportunities, despite ongoing fiscal and staffing challenges.
  • Continue to incorporate sound horticultural maintenance practices and design principles that reduce water requirements and encourage healthy turf and plant life in our parks, golf course, and landscape areas.
  • Continue to evaluate recreational program operations, markets, and efficiencies to maximize cost-recovery and still provide affordable, quality programs.
  • Design and develop facilities that are sustainable, accessible, safe, and easy to maintain, with a consideration of long-term costs and benefits.
  • Strategically plan for growth to provide the facilities and services our community needs.
